ABOUT MICHAEL CASALI
ABOUT MICHAEL
I have been a licensed psychotherapist since 1995. My therapy work has been wide-ranging: children, adolescents, adults, couples and families in public and private settings. I have also worked in state government on issues of mental health and child welfare. In 2012, I joined the Lighthouse Clinic on the East Side of Milwaukee.
In addition to therapy work, I am a part-time faculty at UW-Milwaukee Helen Bader School of Social Welfare, where I received the 2012 Adjunct Faculty of the year award. I am also a faculty member at The Institute for Clinical Social Work in Chicago and a member of the Wisconsin Psychoanalytic Society.
PHILOSOPHY
I approach my clients with a deep respect and concern for their suffering. I work to create a safe and supportive atmosphere in which honest self-exploration and sharing can take place. An important focus is on educating clients on the possible causes of their struggles (i.e., biological, environmental, past and present). With training in both long-term psychoanalytic psychotherapy and briefer problem-focused models, I work with clients to choose the method that is best for their situation.
